New Zealand's veteran pacer Tim Southee was the star of the show with the ball during the Hundred game between Trent Rockets and Birmingham Phoenix on Monday. The right-handed seamer picked 5/12 from his 20 deliveries to help bowl out Trent Rockets for 118 runs.

The incident in question happened in the 99th ball of Trent Rockets innings. Southee was bowling to John Turner when the ball struck the pads of the batter. The umpire put his finger up to give Tim Southee what looked like his hattrick

John Turner though decided to send the decision upstairs for the review. It was seen that the ball was missing the leg stump to deny Tim Southee an incredible hattrick. The veteran seamer Lewis Gregory for 1 and Sam Cook for a duck to claim his fifer.

Birmingham Rockets swat aside Trent Rockets by 6 wickets

It was Trent Rockets who batted first and saw Tom Banton depart early for 1 to give Tim Southee his first wicket. Chris Wood got the second wicket of Alex Hales for 9 while Joe Root was snapped up by Southee for 2.

West Indian star Rovman Powell scored 1 before he was out LBW to Chris Wood. Tom Aslop and Imad Wasim then added 77 runs for the 5th wicket from 56 balls. The Pakistani retired hurt when he was batting on 29. Tom Aslop was the best batter for the Trent side with 51 runs from 37 balls with five boundaries and 2 sixes.

His innings ended when Southee had him caught by Mousley in the 96th ball of the innings. Chasing 119 to win, Birmingham saw Ben Duckett get off to a flier along with skipper Moeen Ali. The pair added 33 runs for the 1st wicket in just 17 balls as Duckett was out for 30 off 16 balls with 4 boundaries and 2 sixes.

Luke Wood who had got the big wicket of Duckett then struck the very next ball to dismiss Jamie Smith.

John Turner then dismissed Moeen Ali and Dan Mousley off successive balls to leave the Rockets in trouble. Liam Livingstone and Jacob Bethell then added unbeaten 68 runs for the 5th wicket as the Birmingham Phoenix side won the game with 7 balls left to play and six wickets in hand.
