Mumbai Indians (MI) batters came out all guns firing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) IPL 2025 second qualifier game against Punjab Kings (PBKS). Tilak Varma, who had been struggling for runs so far this season, finally chose the right occasion to get back into runs. The left-handed batter had come out to bat at the fall of Rohit Sharma’s wicket in the fourth over. Varma then signaled his intent with a brilliant six off Marcus Stoinis.
The left-handed batter then pulled off a stunning six off Vijaykumar Vyshak that saw Rohit stand up and applaud. In the fifth ball of the ninth over, Vyshak bowled a full ball and Varma hit the pacer over the long-off region for an amazing six. It was a picture-perfect shot that left even the PBKS’ pacer completely speechless.

Put into bat, MI batters Rohit Sharma and Jonny Bairstow had to wait a while before getting a chance to bat. Consistent downpour in Ahmedabad meant that the game was delayed for over two hours. Once the game began, Rohit was out after scoring runs, caught by Vyshak off Marcus Stoinis.

The fall of Rohit didn’t faze Varma or Bairstow as the pair continued to bat with aggression. By the end of four overs, Mi had raced to 43 runs for the loss of one wicket. Bowling the final over before the powerplay overs, Azmatullah Omarzai went for 15 runs as MI ended their six overs with the score at 65.
Vyshak came onto bowl and got the key wicket of Jonny Bairstow for 38. The English wicketkeeper and batter went for a scoop shot, but the slower ball deceived him as Josh Inglis took an easy catch. The second wicket stand yielded 51 runs, which came off 28 balls to give MI the momentum.
Suryakumar Yadav came out to bat and hit Yuzvendra Chahal for a six to start the second phase of the game after the first time-out. India’s T20I skipper hit the veteran spinner for a boundary to end the over as MI got to their 100 at the end of ten overs.
