Shoulder-barge moment (Source: X and YouTube)

The first day of the Boxing Day Test match between Australia and India was filled with entertainment and drama, with players banters and stump mic conversations. The players were all pumped up for some solid action, but the Australian batters were well-prepared to face the Indian bowlers. With the way Sam Konstas started his innings against Jasprit Bumrah, it didn't look like a 19-year-old player was taking on the best bowler in the world.

In between the game, a little fight took place between Virat Kohli and the young Konstas which included the shoulder-barge. This incident reminded fans of the 1998 Test series when Ponting shouldered Harbhajan Singh. It was a controversial moment in the game as Harbhajan was relatively young at that time. When Ponting came into bat, he was pretty impressive at the start.

While he was playing on 31 runs off 25 balls, the spinner dismissed him and then started the epic rivalry between the players. After the dismissal, Harbhajan gave an angry send-off which didn't sit well with the batter. Before going to the pavilion, he barged into the opponent player and threw some words at him. He was the one who initiated the fight and now has called out Virat Kohli for doing the same.

Have a look where Virat walks: Ricky Ponting

Ricky Ponting showed a whole level of hypocrisy after the Kohli-Konstas fight, saying Kohli was the one who instigated the player and should be fined. His brutal attack on the 36-year-old player said 'He might have a few questions to answer.' Kohli was fined 20% of match fees for his on-field altercation after day one of the Boxing Day Test match.

"Have a look where Virat walks. Virat walked one whole pitch over to his right and instigated that confrontation. No doubt in my mind whatsoever. I have no doubt that the umpires and the referee will have a good look at that. Fielders should be nowhere near the batsman at that stage. Every fieldsman on the ground knows where the batsmen will congregate and get together. ," said Ricky Ponting while speaking on Channel 7.
