The untimely death of Australian cricketer Phillip Hughes has left a huge void in the lives of many people, including his family members and teammates. November 27, 2024, is the tenth death anniversary of the player who was batting on 63* when a ball struck him which led to his untimely death.

Well, that incident shook the cricket world in 2014. Nobody expected something like this would happen and the bowler, Sean Abbot, who bowled the deadly ball was left stunned. The player faced a short-pitched delivery that hit him on the neck, and unexpectedly, he fell to the ground.

He was rushed to St. Vincent's Hospital by the on-field members, where it was discovered that the ball hit the neck, which caused a rare vertebral artery dissection. This impacted his brain, leading to a brain haemorrhage. He was kept in the ICU for two days and went through various surgeries. However, nothing worked in his favour, and the cricketer left the world, leaving everyone in grief. 

The cricket fraternity mourned for the 25-year-old player who was extremely talented. He was playing a domestic Sheffield Shield match when this incident happened. After his death, many changes were made to the style of the helmet, with greater neck protection to prevent such incidents from happening in the future.

Phillip Hughes family shares the news of releasing a documentary on the tenth anniversary of the player which will be shared by Cricket Australia.  

"Ten years on, a documentary - 'The Boy from Macksville', will be shared alongside Cricket Australia, who we'd like to thank for supporting this endeavour and each person who worked tirelessly behind the scenes for creating a celebration of Phillip's life. 

We hope we have been able to showcase that dreams really do come true and you will enjoy seeing his family, friends and teammates give more of an insight into his career from his baggy blue, baggy red, baggy green and many more moments in-between including unseen footage that can be watched for generations to come. 

We want to share our appreciation to everyone who has respected our privacy and wishes throughout the last decade and continuing to do so at this time. Thank you for being on this journey with Phillip, he loved taking everyone along with him on this ride, living out his childhood dreams."
