The Indian cricket team has reached Sydney for their last game against the mighty Australians at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG). The game is extremely crucial for India as their qualification in the WTC 2025 finals depends on this. On the other hand, Australia are quite set as they just require to win one out of three games left in the WTC cycle. Their next series is against Sri Lanka, which will decide the fate of India and Sri Lanka.

The Indian players were seen at the airport with their families ahead of the fifth Test match. The game will start on January 3. After a disappointing and humiliating loss against Australia in the fourth game, the Indian team will be conscious about the upcoming game.

The fourth Test match was well within India's reach, but the batters didn't give their hundred percent during the second innings. The top order didn't set the base for the other batters, which cost India the match. Chasing a target of 340 runs on the fifth day was never easy, but India didn't put up a tough fight against the Australian bowling attack, which was humiliating.

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli continue to disappoint in Australia

India's two senior batters, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, have continued to be disappointing by not performing in the Test series. After a century in Perth, Kohli hasn't scored in any of the games. Meanwhile, Rohit hasn't performed since his return. This is a concerning matter for the Indian team because this leaves the team with just five batters rather than seven.

The players' worshipping culture in India is why nobody is questioning the senior players after several failed performances. The Board will have to understand the root cause of this issue and find a solution since this cannot go on forever. The senior players are supposed to extend their support and be the light bearers for the young players. As the last match is coming up, the strategies must change from the Indian team or they will be officially out of the WTC finals.
