Indian T20I skipper Suryakumar Yadav was proud of his team after winning the four-match T20I series against South Africa. The current World Cup winners beat the home team by 135 runs to wrap up the series on Friday. BCCI put out a special video of the speech given by Yadav at the end of the game.
Indian skipper especially lauded three players who didn’t get a chance to play. Yadav said, “Thank you, Jitesh, Vyshak and Yash, for all the support. Obviously, each member of the support staff. We got all the support from them,". While Jitesh Sharma has played a handful of games for India, Vijaykumar Vyshak and Yash Dayal didn’t make their debut.
Suryakumar Yadav also said, “Well done, congratulations. Everyone knows how challenging it is to win a series overseas. Last time it was 1-1. But even though after 2-1, we decided on how to play this game. I feel everyone stepped up in this game, so credit goes to everyone. We won this series as a team. It is a special win. But at the same time, we take a lot of learnings.”
Suryakumar Yadav congratulates Rohit Sharma on becoming a father for the second time
Rohit Sharma has become a father for the second time and is a proud father to a baby boy with his wife Ritika. BCCI posted a video of SKY wishing Rohit over the moment at the end of the game when he said “Really really happy Rohit bhai. Was waiting for this moment. I would have reached there if it happened a day or two later.”
Team India began the series with a 61-run win in the first match in Durban. This was followed by a three-wicket loss during the second game in Gqeberha. The Men in Blue rebounded well as they beat South Africa by 11 runs in Centurion before sealing the series on Friday.
At the end of the game, SKY said, “There's no secret to adapting to the conditions and situations. Our plans were very clear as soon as we landed in Durban. The last time when we came here, we played the same brand of cricket and wanted to continue that.”
Aiden Markram was at a loss for words at the end of the game and said, “Quite hard to be honest. Completely outplayed in all three aspects of the game. Have to give them credit, bat and ball they put us under pressure and it was tough for us to come back. Some good honest reflections need to be done.”
