Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) veteran Sunil Narine turned the difference maker on the field in the IPL 2025 game against Delhi Capitals (DC). The 36-year-old did the trick as a fielder when his perfect throw ran out KL Rahul to create a huge opening for the visiting side. The incident happened in the in the third ball of the seventh over with Anukul Roy bowling to Faf du Plessis.
The left-arm spinner bowled a ball down the leg side and the batter gave him the charge only to get a fine tickle of his bat. KL Rahul had already started making his way to the striker's end as Narine picked up the ball and hit the stumps on the full. KKR players began to celebrate while Rahul seemed confident.
Once the replays came on the screen, it was seen that the veteran Indian batter was inches short of his crease. TV umpire had no hesitation in giving the batter out as Rahul made his way back to the hut for seven runs. Once the decision was confirmed there was huge shock in the DC camp as it was a key moment in the game for both sides.
KKR bowlers put early pressure on Delhi Capitals batters
Home side came out to bat needing 205 runs to win the game and lost the wicket of Abhishek Porel early. The left-handed batter went for a huge shot but couldn’t time the ball well and saw Andre Russell take an easy catch to give Anukul Roy his first wicket. Karun Nair and du Plessis then added 39 runs for the second wicket in 25 balls to bring DC back into the game.
Against the run of play, Vaibhav Arora bowled a full that Nair missed and was struck on the pads. KKR decided to send the decision upstairs, and the batter had to head back to the hut after scoring 15 runs. Axar Patel, who had injured his left hand while fielding, played a key role with the bat and added 76 for the fourth wicket with du Plessis in 41 balls.
