There was a huge controversial moment during the second ODI involving Virat Kohli. The former Indian skipper was given not out in the most dramatic fashion which left the Sri Lankan team in utter disbelief. Coach Sanath Jayasuriya was visibly seething with rage as the Indian batter got a huge slice of life.

The incident happened in the final ball of the 15th over with Akila Dhananjaya bowling to Virat Kohli. The Sri Lankan bowler deceived the Indian batter with his flight and hit his pads. The umpire had no hesitation in giving Virat Kohli out as he conferred with Shubman Gill and went up for review.

Once the third umpire came into play there was a long wait for the ultra edge to come into play. Sri Lankan players and fans were left in shock as the replays showed there was a spike due to an inside edge. This was relayed to the on-field umpire and was asked to reverse his decision.

Kusal Mendis could be seen having a word with Virat Kohli who gestured towards the big screen. Once the over ended the Sri Lankan players made their way to the umpire to air their displeasure and their anger towards the decision given.

Jeffrey Vandersay leaves India in huge trouble

India was coasting at one stage with Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill having added 97 runs for the 1st wicket. The Indian skipper yet again was aggressive in his approach as he smashed 64 runs from 44 balls.

Jeffrey Vandersay then ran through the Indian batting unit with his maiden fifer in ODI cricket. The spin bowler first got rid of Rohit Sharma caught by Pathum Nissanka. His next wicket was that of Shubman Gill well caught by Kamindu Mendis for 35.

Shivam Dube was done in the flight and turn as he was out LBW for a duck off 4 balls. Virat Kohli was then out for 14 as he was caught plumb in front of the wicket to give Vandersay his 4th wicket. The fifer came when Shreyas Iyer was also out LBW for 7 to leave India in trouble at 133/5 still needing 108 runs to win.
