Smriti Mandhana made her debut for Adelaide Strikers in the WBBL, where she failed to impress the crowd with her performance. A lot was expected out of the player as she is a brilliant batter. However, her first game didn't go as expected as Shikha Pandey, her Indian counterpart, dismissed her. Pandey was playing for the Brisbane Heat Women. Mandhana was dismissed on just six runs.

The Strikers won the toss and decided to field first, which backfired them as Heat's opener Grace Harris and Jemimah Rodrigues played beautifully. While Harris scored 33 runs in 22 balls, hitting six boundaries and one six, Rodrigues scored 61 runs in 40 balls, including seven boundaries and one six.

Skipper Jonassen also contributed to the scorecard with 32 runs in 21 balls. It was a great batting effort from the players, scoring 175 runs in 20 overs. Jemma Barsby claimed two wickets, while all the other bowlers took one wicket each.

Brisbane Heat beat Adelaide Strikers by eight runs

When Adelaide Strikers came to bat, the top order went out cheaply, including Smriti Mandhana. Captain Tahila Grant, Bridget Patterson, and Madeline Penna tried to save the team from failure but couldn't do so, and they lost the game by eight runs. This loss will hit them hard because they could have easily won the game. Patterson scored 61 runs off 47 balls, while Penna scored 59 runs in 30 balls, including ten boundaries.

For Heat, Shikha Pandey, Charli Knott, Nicola Hancock, and Nadine de Klerk took one wicket each. All the players made a brilliant effort as they helped the team win the game at such a low margin. They will look forward to play the same kind of game in the upcoming matches as well.
