Star in-form Indian batter Smriti Mandhana has been enjoying the ‘form of her life’ for the last five white-ball games. She has been in sensational form, scoring 50+ and 100+ runs in these appearances. She was in the same run of form in the ongoing second ODI of the three-match series against West Indies Women.

Mandhana had scored 53 runs off 47 balls but then came an unfortunate moment that denied her a well-deserved century. She had already played an amazing knock of 91 runs against the Caribbean Women in the first ODI.

While batting at the individual score of 53 runs off 47 balls, she happened to be a part of a miscommunication with her opening partner Pratika Rawal when India had scored 110 runs without any loss of wicket.

It all happened in the 17th over of the first innings when WI’s Karishma Ramharack was bowling; Rawal played Ramharack in the square-leg region and made the call of a ‘double run’. Mandhana followed the call but all of a sudden, she was asked to go back by Rawal as Ramharack had collected the ball quite quickly.

As a result of this, Mandhana failed to reach the crease and she eventually ended up getting ‘run out’ in an unfortunate manner.

Here’s the video of Smriti Mandhana’s run-out:

Speaking of the current action of the match, India had scored 341 runs for the loss of four wickets in 48.1 overs. Besides Smriti Mandhana’s 53-run knock, Pratika Rawal also played a knock of 76 runs followed by Harleen Deol’s century, 115 runs off 103 balls, with 16 fours. Jemimah Rodrigues also scored 52 runs off just 36 balls, with six fours and a six.

India Women are already leading the three-match ODI series by 1-0; they are eyeing taking an unassailable lead of 2-0 with a win in this match.
