The Pakistan skipper Babar Azam once again drew criticism towards himself after a video went viral where he was seen body-shaming the keeper-batter Azam Khan. In the practice session ahead of their game in the T20 World Cup 2024, Babar was heard calling Khan 'Gainda,' which wasn't perceived well by the audience. While the squad selection itself was criticized, many cricket experts questioned the selection of Azam Khan.

In a recent video that went viral on social media, people bashed the skipper for using such words and humiliating his teammate. While what was said by Babar wasn't clear enough, some people thought he said "ay gainda nai siddha hoya" while others thought he said something else.

Azam Khan's poor performance and fitness drew much criticism in the last series against England. He scored 11 runs in two matches, and his keeping techniques were poor. He also dropped a few catches and failed to stop the ball from going to the boundary. While the Board has shown confidence in him, his batting might shut the critics in the upcoming matches.

'We need to back the players' - Babar Azam takes a stand for Azam Khan

Skipper Babar Azam took a stand for the keeper-batter Azam Khan when the media constantly asked him questions about the selection. Khan's physical fitness was questioned most of the time, and hence, the skipper stopped everything and gave a bold reply which calmed the media and the trollers.

In a press conference, Babar said, "When we don't select a player, you ask us why we did not select him. And then, when we select him, you ask us why he was selected. We need to back the players who have been selected."
