Rajasthan Royals’ (RR) batting unit was decimated by Mumbai Indians’ bowling unit during their IPL 2025 game on Thursday. The home team needed a win to keep their faint hopes of making it to the playoffs alive. Loss, on the other hand, will make RR the second side after Chennai Super Kings to be eliminated from the tournament.
Shubham Dubey was introduced by the home side as the impact player. The left-handed batter came to the crease at the fall of Shimron Hetmyer for a golden duck. Dubey got off the mark with a four with his first ball against Bumrah. In the next over, Dubey played one of the best shots of the game when he smashed Corbin Bosch for a massive six.
The incident occurred in the fifth ball of the sixth over when Bosch bowled a short ball that the batter hooked for a six. What made the shot more special was that Dubey wasn’t even looking at the ball as he hit it for a six. Bosch, who had made his IPL debut in the last game against Lucknow, was clocking speeds in excess of 140 KPH and bowled a ball at close to 150 KPH in the same over.
Woeful Rajasthan Royals surrender meekly to MI’s bowling unit
Riyan Parag was left seeing in horror as his decision to bowl first after winning the toss came back to haunt him. Mumbai Indians scored a mammoth 217 runs on the board thanks to their top four batters contributing.
Rohit Sharma got his third fifty of the season, as did Ryan Rickelton, who top scored with 61. Skipper Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav scored identical 48 off 23 balls that saw MI get past the 200-run mark.
In reply, Rajasthan Royals were reduced to 76 for seven at the end of nine overs. Deepak Chahar started the slide with the wicket of Vaibhav Suryvanshi for a duck. Trent Boult then got the wickets of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Nitish Rana for 13 and nine, respectively. Skipper Hardik Pandya struck with his first ball when he got the wicket of Shubham Dubey for 15, while Karn Sharma took an easy return catch of Dhruv Jurel for 11.
