Veteran Indian player Shardul Thakur is playing his 100th game in the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Tuesday. The 33-year-old was a late addition to the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) squad. Thakur was drafted into the team as a replacement for Mohsin Khan, who was ruled out of the season due to injury.ย
Ahead of the game against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Tuesday, Thakur was felicitated by his LSG teammates. So far, Thakur has picked seven wickets for LSG and has been their key bowler. The 33-year-old bowled well in the penultimate over in the game against Mumbai Indians to help his side win the game by 12 runs.ย

LSG mentor and former India pacer Zaheer Khan could be seen handing Thakur a special jersey on his special game. The rest of the Lucknow teammates also joined in the applause as they congratulated the veteran player. Rishabh Pant will hope that his veteran star can come to the fore on his 100th game and win his team their second game on the trot.ย
Lucknow openers make tremendous start to the game vs KKR
Ajinkya Rahane won the toss and chose to bowl first and made one change to the side with Moeen Ali making way for Spencer Johnson. The first over of the game saw LSG score just three runs. Spencer Johnson, who has proved to be expensive with the ball so far this year, went for 12 runs from his opening over.ย
Mitchell Marsh hit a massive six to showcase his brilliant form with the bat so far this campaign. Aiden Markram, who had scored a fifty in the last game, also got into the boundary scoring act as he hit Johnson for a four in the second ball of his spell. Vaibhav Aroraโs second over saw only five runs being scored as LSG were placed at 20 for no loss after three overs.ย
Johnson then saw his bowling figures get ruined by Aiden Markram, who hit the pacer for two fours and a six. The fourth over of LSGโs innings saw 18 runs being scored as the visitors began to assert their authority with the bat.ย
