India came out to bat on the fourth day of the Bengaluru Test needing a further 125 runs to make New Zealand bat again. Virat Kohli was dismissed by Glenn Phillips on the final ball of the day to hand a massive shock to the home fans. Sarfaraz Khan walked into bat with Rishabh Pant with the two youngsters hoping to continue the good work.

With his score of 95, Sarfaraz dabbed the ball past the gully region, set for a single and completed it with ease. Rishabh Pant was keen to get his partner back on strike and started to go back looking for a 2nd run. Sensing that there was no run on offer, Khan sent back Pant as the Kiwi fielders threw the ball to Tom Blundell.

The Kiwi wicketkeeper fluffed his lines as he missed an easy runout. Meanwhile, the cameras spotted Sarfaraz jumping up and down in a bid to send his partner back. That moment was similar to Javed Miandad jumping up and down during the India vs Pakistan 1992 ODI World Cup match.

Young Sarfaraz Khan scored his 1st Test ton with a four off Tim Southee during the 4th day. it was a huge moment for the youngster who had to go through the grind and finally realize his dream of playing for India. Indian team stood up in unison and clapped the youngster as Rohit Sharma had a huge smile on his face.

Former Indian star Sanjay Manjrekar during his chat with ESPN CRICINFO said, “Sarfaraz reminds me of a Javed Miandad of the 1980s but this is a 2024 version of a Javed Miandad. Really impressed with the way he played. We know he plays spin well but I liked the way he played fast bowlers.”

The former India star also said, “Towards the end of the day's play, he was looking to play defensively and wanting bad light when there was actually bright light. I loved the way he was ducking to bouncers, just trying to play the day out so he has that game as well and that augurs well for India and Sarfaraz Khan for Australia because he has shown that element of batting as well."
