Namibia had Oman on the back-foot right from the word go during their class in Barbados in the 3rd match of the T20 World Cup 2024. Ruben Trumpelmann the left-arm pacer was the main destroyer as he picked two wickets from the first two balls of the game.
Coming over the wicket, Trumpelmann bowled a perfect Yorker that struck Prajpati right on the toes. This left the batter in complete shock as it was too good a ball to get at the very start of the game.

The batter was given out by the umpire to give the Namibians a great start to the game. The very next ball Trumpelmann bowled yet another Yorker to get rid of Aqib Ilyas to leave Oman in a huge spot of bother.

Zeeshan Maqsood came out to bat and faced the hat-trick ball and safely survived to deny Ruben Trumpelmann a likely magical feat. Earlier in the day Namibia won the toss and chose to bowl first keeping the inclement weather in mind.

Oman put under early pressure

It wasn’t the kind of start Oman would have looked for on their debut in the T20 World Cup. After losing two early wickets the Oman batters lost their third wicket with the score reading 10 runs. Wicketkeeper Naseem Khushi was out for 6 when he became the third wicket of the day for Trumpelmann.

Zeeshan Maqsood batted well as he added 27 runs for the 4th wicket with Khalid Kail. The pair tried to stage a fight back only for Bernard Scholtz to get the veteran Oman player out LBW.

Ayaan Khan then came to the wicket and tried to up the ante with a six but the Namibian bowling was way too disciplined. Skipper Gerhard Erasmus beat Ayaan Khan with his flight as the batter went for a huge hit only to be caught by Jan Frylinck for 15 runs. At that stage Oman had lost half their side for 68 runs in the 12th over.

The opening day of the T20 World Cup 2024 had seen USA beat Canada by 7 wickets with Aaron Jones scoring an unbeaten 94. West Indies held their nerves to beat an upbeat Papua New Guinea side as Roston Chase became the hero with the bat for his side.
