Former Mumbai Indians (MI) skipper Rohit Sharma is getting ready for the massive Indian Premier League (IPL) season. The 37-year-old is set to face Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in a huge opening encounter for the five-time IPL winners. Rohit scored a century in the last season against the same team to record his second ton in IPL history.

MI’s social media handle put out a special video showing their form skipper getting ready for the battle ahead. Rohit could be seen with the letters ‘SAR’ inscribed on his gloves. The letters stand for Samaira (daughter), Ahaan (son), and Ritika (wife). It is a sweet gesture and showed the commitment that India’s captain has towards his family.
Rohit flew back to India earlier this week after spending some time with his family. The 37-year-old had flown to the Maldives after winning the Champions Trophy 2025 title recently. Suryakumar Yadav is set to lead the side in the absence of Hardik Pandya for the first match of the season.
Former India star backs Hardik Pandya to do well in IPL 2025
Harbhajan Singh was recently chatting on Jio Hotstar where he spoke about Hardik Pandya. The 31-year-old will rejoin the team for the second game as he is serving a one-match ban due to slow over-rate in the previous season. Hardik endured a tough start to life as MI skipper having seen his team finish last in the table.
Speaking on Jio Hotstar, Harbhajan said “He was always a very confident player from day one of joining the team in 2015. He was also a very positive guy with ‘yes I can do this' attitude. Since then, his positive instinct has been better than before. He has more belief in himself now that I can do these things and he's done it. So, that's one of his biggest strengths which differentiates himself from others. Now he has got the experience of playing almost 10 years now – not just the IPL, but also a lot of international cricket”
The former India spin legend also said “It's good to see the way he progressed himself for Mumbai Indians over the years, and then he was leading GT for 2 years, where he was brilliant there as well. Yes, last year wasn't that great for him since he was coming back to Mumbai Indians”
“I think that this year Hardik Pandya will be at his best when we talk about his captainship or skillsets wise. When you are at peace, you are happy, enjoying yourself and kind of getting the best out of the other players” said Harbhajan Singh
