WATCH: Rohit Sharma sets the field for fans at the airport

With the IPL 2025 event starting today on 22nd March, anticipation is growing among cricket fans. On March 23, the Mumbai Indians (MI) will play their first game of the season against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Former MI captain Rohit Sharma was recently seen at the airport with his family, looking very focused ahead of the big match. His keen intuition even off the pitch is demonstrated by a video of him from the airport has gone viral on social media. 

A video of Rohit Sharma at the airport was posted by an X (previously Twitter) user. He was seen directing the photographers like how he would position his fielders before a match. In the footage, Rohit told cameras to move aside while his family was inside the car. "Captain Rohit Sharma is setting the field even at the airport," the user wrote in a humorous remark on the video. Fans were moved by the sight and quickly shared their reactions on social media.

Rohit Sharma's journey in IPL

Rohit Sharma is one of the IPL's most dangerous batters. His performances have won several matches throughout the years. He has played 257 IPL matches so far and scored 6,628 runs. Two hundred and 43 half-centuries are part of his remarkable record. In addition to his skill as a batsman, Rohit has taken 15 wickets in his sporadic bowling career. Over the years, his leadership and all-around skills have been essential to the Mumbai Indians' success. 

Since joining Mumbai Indians in 2011, he soon became a key player for the team and in 2013 he was leading the team, the same year he won his second IPL title and first title with Mumbai Indians. Later, he led MI to 5 IPL titles. Under his captaincy, Mumbai Indians became the most successful team in the IPL.

During IPL 2024, Hardik Pandya joined the team and was given captaincy which helped Rohit Sharma to play more freely. For IPL 2025, Hardik Pandya will again continue as Mumbai Indians captain and Rohit Sharma's role will be playing with a free and attacking mindset to give a good start to MI.
