New Zealand struck twice after tea as Ajaz Patel did the trick with the ball. The Kiwi star dismissed Rohit Sharma in the most unluckiest ways. Rohit Sharma was batting well and had just gone past his Test fifty. India’s skipper was looking good for a big knock before tragedy struck.

India’s skipper defended the ball as Ajaz Patel and the ball was seen skidding on the pitch and went on to dislodge the bails. The 37-year-old could only bow his head in horror as Rohit didn’t make an effort to kick the ball away. New Zealand players were overjoyed after seeing the back of India’s most dangerous batters.

In the previous over, Rohit had smashed Matt Henry for two fours and a six to reach his half-century. With a savage pull shot over the deep mid-wicket region, India’s skipper signaled his intent. Yet another pull shot raced away to the boundary as the Kiwi fielders couldn’t get to the ball to bring up the fifty.

Sanjay Manjrekar advises Rohit Sharma after first innings failure

Former Indian star Sanjay Manjrekar has said that Rohit needs to learn from former skipper MS Dhoni. The 37-year-old had erred when he had won the toss and chose to bat first only for his team to be skittled out for 46. Even at the end of the game, Rohit said that it was his mistake after he chose to bat first.

Manjrekar taking to X wrote, “Dhoni had this very unique ability to preempt & make a bowling change before the damage went out of control. Rohit needs to bring that quality into his leadership.” The tweet came after Rachin Ravindra and Tim Southee added more than 100 runs for the 8th wicket.

At the time of writing, India’s score is 121/2 with Virat Kohli on 19 and Sarfaraz Khan on 13. Both batters had scored a duck in the first innings of the game. Ajaz Patel had also dismissed Yashasvi Jaiswal for 35. India’s young opener was out stumped just after tea while trying to be aggressive. The home team still trails the visiting side by 235 runs with two full days left to play.
