Mohammad Kaif praises Rohit Sharma’s captaincy

Ahead of the match there were rumors that Rohit Sharma might call time on his ODI career. This is the fourth successive ICC final that Rohit has led India to and won one title. Team India had won the ICC T20 World Cup final in 2024 by beating South Africa in a close encounter.

Former India batter Mohammad Kaif took to his X handle and praised Rohit as he said, “It's been just 4 years since Rohit Sharma got the captaincy but look his achievements. Only skipper to take his team to all ICC event finals. Whatever happens today, it wouldn't impact his leadership legacy. True leader and a legend."

Rohit has been under pressure to score runs and was out for 28 runs in the semi-finals of the tournament. The 37-year-old who has scored 11,000 ODI runs was backed by coach Gautam Gambhir who praised the intent shown by Rohit early in the game.
