Rishabh Pant has been an outstanding player throughout the 3-match Test series against New Zealand. In the first innings of the 3rd Test match, he scored 60 runs, and in the second innings, he got out on 64 runs. The dismissal was quite unfortunate as the player showed complete dissatisfaction with the third umpire's decision before leaving the ground. He also discussed with the on-field umpires but couldn't do much.

The incident took place in the 21st over when Azaj Patel was bowling, and the ball went past Pant to Blundell. Now, the Kiwi players appealed for catch-out, but the on-field umpires didn't respond. Captain Tom Latham took the DRS. The confusion was whether the ball touched the batter's bat or not? The ball certainly went past the bat, but the bat touched the pads, and there was a spike in the ultra edge. However, the third umpire felt that there was a deflection, and Pant was given out.

With Pant's wicket, India's dream of qualifying for the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025 finals is shattered. India lost the 3rd Test match against New Zealand by 25 runs. The embarrassment has doubled since the Kiwis have whitewashed the series with their terrific batting and bowling performances.

India's home series dominance comes to an end

New Zealand have successfully beaten India in the third Test match by a mere margin of 25 runs. With this, they have whitewashed the series and have done something unbelievable. New Zealand played a brilliant game in the series where their batters were outstanding. Moreover, the spin attack was unplayable, making a huge difference in the series.

Indian batters were absolutely clueless about how to play against spin, so they failed to score runs when needed the most. A few of them, including Jaiswal, Gill, and Pant, tried their best but couldn't do much without support. India's chances of qualifying for the WTC Finals are in jeopardy as they now have to win four out of five games against Australia. The selectors will have to make some changes in the team now if they want to upgrade their chances for the WTC finals.
