The left-hand batter Rishabh Pant has risen to the occasion to stop the Indian team from another collapse in Test cricket against Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024. He scored 37 runs in 77 balls including three boundaries and one six. So far, he's been accompanied by Nitish Reddy who is giving a tough time to the bowlers.
In 46 overs India have scored 128 runs at the loss of eight wickets. At one point it looked like India wouldn't even reach 100 runs, but thanks to these batters, they have done it successfully.
Pant is known for playing some weird shots while falling on the ground and he did the same against Pat Cummins in the 41st over. In the last delivery of the over, Cummins bowled a full ball angled in around off when Pant played it over the fine leg boundary. Rishabh Pant hit the first six in the match. It was an outstanding shot but doesn't have a name to it yet. It was more like a 'falling sweep' from Pant.

India are in huge trouble on day one with just 128 runs on the board. It looks like Australia are having the time of the year with the ball.
KL Rahul's controversial wicket leads to India's collapse
Before Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul was the only Indian batter who looked settled in Perth, playing some good shots against the Australian bowling attack. However, the tables turned drastically after Rahul's wicket, which was controversial because the on-field umpire gave it not-out but the third umpire changed the decision without proper evidence.
As per the Snicko meter, there was a spike but the surety of the ball hitting the bat wasn't there because the bat also hit the pads at the same time. The camera angle shown was sideways which didn't help at all. Many former players have criticized umpire's decision because they didn't follow the protocols before declaring Rahul out.
