Rohit Sharma came into the playing XI of the Indian team and batted in the No.6 position because KL Rahul played well in the last match against Australia in Perth. This did raise a lot of eyebrows as to why Rohit dropped his batting position. Meanwhile, the captain received a lot of support for this decision from former players like Sunil Gavaskar and many others.

Gavaskar had a clear stance for Rohit. Since facing the Pink Ball isn't easy and Rohit didn't play in the first game, dropping his batting position seemed to be fair. "Clearly, it was required that he would be able to see what was happening, pink ball isn't easy to play, India hasn't played pink-ball test in maybe 2-3 years, so dropping himself down the order was, to me, a correct move," said Sunil Gavaskar.

However, Ricky Ponting seemed to have different opinions than the former Indian batter. It was more like Ponting wanted Rohit to open the innings and not lose his spot for KL Rahul. Ponting said, "I actually disagree with what Sunny said. I feel he should've come back in the side and open the batting. KL Rahul has been a fringe player around this team for a number of years. Yes, he got his chance and he played in Perth. But what it seems to be now is that Rohit Sharma is going to spend the rest of his career down the order Because KL Rahul has played well, Shubman Gill looked good in the first innings, so he looks certain. The only spot for Rohit Sharma in the side now is no.6 and that might be where he stays for the rest of his career."

Bumrah and Shami shine as Australia were dismissed on 337 runs

Australia put up a great show against India in the 2nd Test match. The Indian bowling attack didn't do much from the beginning except for Jasrpit Bumrah who claimed three wickets at the start. However, Travis Head was the biggest challenge India had to face on day two. After struggling for a very long time and watching Head score a century, Siraj finally dismissed him when he was batting on 140 runs in 141 balls.

From there, Siraj went on to claim three more wickets, finishing the game for India. Meanwhile, Ashwin and Reddy took one wicket each. Harshit Rana remained wicketless due to his poor bowling performance throughout the innings. It's up to the Indian batters now to give a befitting reply to the mighty Aussies.
