Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) are set to play their fourth IPL final when they take on Punjab Kings on Tuesday night. The match is set to be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad as Rajat Patidar and his side aim to break their long wait for the title. Ahead of the game, few RCB fans were seen praying to God and performing hawan to make sure that Bengaluru wins the title.
PBKS and RCB have faced each other thrice this season and Bengaluru have won twice. Shreyas Iyer’s side was thrashed by RCB in the first qualifier by eight wickets to become the first side to make it to the finals. In the second qualifier, Punjab Kings beat Mumbai Indians to secure their place in the finals.
The game is set to be an epic encounter between the two sides who are yet to win their first IPL title. Both teams have shown tremendous form this season with the bat and ball with Shreyas Iyer and Rajat Patidar leading their respective sides well. RCB fans will be hoping that their prayers can be answered with a possible title win.
James Hopes reveals how PBKS cracked Jasprit Bumrah’s bowling
One of the biggest points coming out of the PBKS vs MI encounter was how Jasprit Bumrah’s threat was nullified. PBKS’ bowling coach James Hopes revealed how the batters prepared for the ace Indian pacer ahead of the second qualifier. Josh Inglis in particular took the attack to Bumrah, hitting the pacer for 20 runs in his first over.
Hopes said, “The way Josh Inglis attacked Jasprit Bumrah up front, it was about getting him off his game early. If you had told us at the start of the day that we’d be chasing 200 and would take 40 runs off Bumrah, we would’ve taken that every day of the week — and backed ourselves to win. Josh has a pretty good record against Bumrah in short-form cricket — he plays him well. I don’t think it was a conscious decision to target that over; he just got a few balls in his zone and put them away.”
The former Aussie player also said, “On another day, those shots might go straight to fielders, and he’s not away. But we took full advantage of that over — I think it went for 19. Doing that in Bumrah’s first over has a ripple effect, not just on his rhythm but on the confidence of the entire team. We were talking at halftime.”
