South Africa are playing their first match of the Champions Trophy 2025 against Afghanistan, where they scored 315 runs in the first innings. Thanks to Ryan Rickelton for scoring a blistering century in the game and taking the score past 300. However, as soon as he scored a century, Afghanistan's star spinner Rashid Khan dismissed him with a super throw towards the wicketkeeper.

He was batting on 103 runs when Rashid bowled a flat delivery towards the stumps. Rickelton pushed the ball towards the bowler with a soft hand. But he came forward and played the ball and was out of his crease. Hence, Rashid threw the ball promptly towards the keeper and dismissed the batter.

Apart from him, captain Temba Bavuma, Aiden Markram, and Rassie van der Dussen also played well, scoring half-centuries. It was a brilliant team effort from the batters in the middle order. Now, the bowlers will have to do the trick to win the game.

I think we set it up nicely: Rassie van der Dussen

Rassie van der Dussen, South Africa's middle-order batter, scored a brilliant half-century against Afghanistan. His contribution was extremely valuable as they crossed the 300-run mark in the first innings. Van der Dussen praised the team and their performance in the game.

"I think we set it up nicely, the guys in the top 3 allowed the batters to come in set-up to bat with intensity, pretty happy with how we've played. The bounce is up and down, reminding me of the Wanderers wicket, there's bounce, but there are cracks as well, one or two stayed low, some bounced, there are some grassy pitches, skids on, stay on the wicket and don't give the batters any easy runs (on the way to bowl on this wicket). Pretty happy with my innings," said Rassie van der Dussen.
