MI Cape Town and two-time defending champions Sunrisers Eastern Cape met in the SA20 2025 final at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg. Cape Town, led by Rashid Khan, registered a convincing 76-run win to lift their maiden title in the third edition of the tournament.
Earlier in the day, during the first innings, skipper Rashid Khan got into a heated altercation with Richard Gleeson after being dismissed to the Englishman. Gleeson seemed to have said something to the star spinner, which led him to give the opponent a piece of his mind. The on-field umpire was quick to intervene and send Rashid on his way.

The Men in Blue and Gold won the toss and decided to bat first. This decision proved right as they got off to a flying start, thanks to Ryan Rickelton and Rassie van der Dussen. The two openers added a 52-run partnership in five overs, which set the tone for the rest of the game.
Connor Esterhuizen, George Linde, and Dewald Brevis then played brilliant cameos to guide their team to a competitive total of 181 runs. This target was good enough for a fighting match, but it was not to be.
The Rashid Khan-led side was at the top of their game with the ball as they always kept Sunrisers away from the total. Trent Bould and Kagiso Rabada were spot on with the new ball to keep the batters under check.
The Men in Orange only managed 34 runs in the powerplay in a tricky chase and lost two wickets. After that, it was all downhill for them as they kept losing wickets. Rabada, with his four wicket spell, eventually won the game for MI Cape Town, picking the last wicket.
