The Kiwi skipper was bowling the 14th over of the innings and was welcomed by Patidar with a huge six over long region. In the third ball of the same over, Kohli hit the Kiwi spinner for a boundary. In the final ball of his spell, Santner saw Patidar make room and hit straight over the long-off region for the second six of the over.

By the end of the over, RCB had managed to reach 143 runs on the board for the loss of two sixes. It was a great show with the bat for RCB who had been put into bat by Hardik Pandya. RCB had lost Phil Salt for four when he was bowled by Trent Boult for four in the second ball of the game.

Devdutt Padikkal and Virat Kohli went after Mumbai Indians’ bowlers as the pair added 91 runs for the second wicket. That stand came off just 52 balls as the pair hit boundaries at will which included a 20 run over off Deepak Chahar. By the end of the powerplay the visitors were scoring well above 12 runs per over.

That stand was broken when Vignesh Puthur got the wicket of Padikkal for 37 caught by Will Jacks. Former RCB skipper Virat Kohli scored his 99th T20 fifty when Puthur was hit for a huge six. Kohli and Patidar added 48 runs for the third wicket as the partnership was raised in 31 balls.

Rohit Sharma who had started the game on the bench as an impact player was brought in for Puthur. Mumbai Indians were looking at a huge total to chase with skipper Patidar scoring his fifty and putting his team in a strong position.
