Punjab Kings (PBKS) were 185 runs to win their final IPL 2025 game and take the spot in the points table. Suryakumar Yadav’s brilliant helped MI post 184 on the board at the Sawai Mansingh stadium in Jaipur. Deepak Chahar began well for MI by bowling a maiden over. In his second over, the 33-year-old pacer was hit for a six by PBKS batter Prabhsimran Singh.

The 24-year-old saw Ryan Rickelton come up to the stumps in a bid to stop the batter from coming down the track. Prabhsimran went outside off stump and scooped the ball for a six over the fine-leg region for his first six of the innings. In the third ball of the same over, Singh lofted the ball over the top for yet another four. 

Deepak Chahar could have got his man of the next ball as Singh tried to hit a huge shot. Ashwani Kumar settled under the skier but dropped the catch much to the shock of his MI teammates. To add salt to the wounds, Priyansh Arya ended the over with a boundary as 16 runs were scored.

The first over of the chase bowled by Trent Boult produced 10 runs to give PBKS great start to their innings. Hardik Pandya turned to Jasprit Bumrah who made immediate impact a wicket. Prabhsimran went for a huge shot and got a thick edge as Ashwani came in and took a fine low catch. 

Josh Inglis who is set to leave for national duties at the end of the game came out with attacking intent. After 11 overs PBKS were placed at 105 for the loss of one wicket with nine overs left to play. Ashwani Kumar’s opening over saw 16 runs being scored as Inglis hit the pacer for three successive fours. 

Priyansh Arya was at his attacking best as the second wicket stand went past fifty runs. None of the MI bowlers were able to curtail the stand as both batters ran hard between the wickets and also hit boundaries at regular intervals. Mitchell Santner who bowled a great spell in the last match was also hit for runs with ease as PBKS batters exercised their control.
