Indian cricket skipper Rohit Sharma was the man in form with the bat during 2023 ODI World Cup. On this day last year the tournament saw the biggest game when India took on Pakistan at the Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad. The high profile game saw Rohit Sharma score 86 runs off just 63 balls.
India’s skipper went on the offensive and began by taking on Pakistan’s new ball pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi. It was against Haris Rauf that India’s ace batter brought out his best shots. Three huge sixes including one over extra cover region stood out the most.

With India needing 36 runs to win, Afridi’s slower ball ended Rohit’s innings. Iftikhar Ahmed took an easy catch as the capacity crowd in Ahmedabad applauded Indioa’s skipper. KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer ensured India won the game by 7 wickets with 117 balls to spare.
Pakistan’s suffered great collapse to lose huge loss to India
It was India who won the toss and chose to bowl first as the biggest game of 2023 ODI World Cup saw Babar Azam and Rohit Sharma collide. Abdullah Shafique came out to open the batting with Imam Ul Haq and the pair added 41 runs. Mohammed Siraj gave India their opening wicket when he dismissed Shafique for 20.
Babar and Imam then added 32 runs for the 2nd wicket before Hardik Pandya got into the act. KL Rahul hung onto sharp chance to dismiss Imam for 36 off 38 balls. It was then the Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan show as Pakistan’s senior batters added 82 for the 3rd wicket.
Then skipper Babar Azam played few delightful shots to reach his half century. Game changed when Mohammed Siraj came in for a new spell. Babar was castled for 50 and from there the visitors lost 8 wickets for 36 runs to be bowled out for 191. Jasprit Bumrah got the wickets of Rizwan and Shadab Khan to steer the game in India’s favor.
Kuldeep Yadav dismissed Saud Shakeel and Iftikhar Ahmed in a single over. Ravindra Jadeja then grabbed the wickets of Haris Rauf and Hasan Ali to end Pakistan’s innings. In reply while Rohit was going great guns, Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli fell early. The duo scored 16 runs each before Iyer came out to bat and added 77-runs for 3rd wicket with Rohit to help India win the game.
