Rishabh Pant didn’t have a great IPL 2025 after his move to Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). The 27-year-old became the costliest player in the history of the IPL as LSG paid INR 27 crores to acquire his services. Pant ended the season with a century against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at home. This was Pant’s second century in the league.
After scoring his tonne, Pant did the front handstand, much to the amusement of his partner Nicholas Pooran. The celebration has become a viral sensation and was also re-created. Nigerian influencer Istanboss, real name Agu Stanley Chiedozie, has a huge fan following in India due to his ability to speak fluent Hindi.
Istanboss posted a short video doing the Rishabh Pant celebration after scoring his century. The Nigerian social media influencer's video has gone viral and many Indian cricket fans have admired how Istanboss has been able to do his version of the celebration.
Can Rishabh Pant do well in England?
After a disappointing IPL 2025 season, the next big challenge for Pant is the tour of England, which starts in under three weeks. Pant has been named the vice-captain of the side with Shubman Gill leading the side. This is Pant’s third tour of England; he made his Test debut against the same opposition in 2018.
Former India batter Aakash Chopra praised Pant for his tonne in the season-ending game against RCB. Chopra, taking to his YouTube channel, said, “Rishabh Pant came to bat up the order in this match. The way he started playing from the first ball, he showed why this guy is special. It was his second IPL century. When you play with power, you hit very good shots on the onside. So people bowl wide to you. He was hitting over cover on one leg while falling."
The former India player also said, “The shots he hit over the off side, you cannot use the bottom hand to hit there because if you do that, you will drag it towards the on side. However, if you hit on the off side with the same strength, it showcases your backlift and downswing and how you can throw your weight in that direction. It also showcases your unique ability.”
