Even, ahead of the first match of the tournament, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) arranged a special aerial show. During the show, jet planes flew over the stadium in Karachi. The fighter jets performed manoeuvres which left the fans impressed. However, the New Zealand openers Devon Conway and Will Young along with Glenn Philips, gave epic reactions as they were left surprised by the sudden noise of fighter jets.

Talking about the match, the Men in Green won the toss and elected to bowl first. Openers Conway and Young tackled the pace-duo of Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah pretty well but the introduction of Abrar Ahmed helped Pakistan to claim Conway’s wicket in the eighth over.

Former Kiwi skipper Kane Williamson came to bat at no. 3 position, however, Naseem’s unplayable delivery became the cause of Williamson’s dismissal. Williamson tried to defend a delivery outside off-stump but ended up edging it. Pakistan skipper Muhammad Rizwan made no mistake behind the wickets and grabbed the ball safely.

Kiwi all-rounder Daryl Mitchell was looking in a great touch but was beaten by the extra pace of Haris Rauf who dismissed him in the 17th over of the first innings. Despite this, Young held his calm and got close to his century. At the time of writing, Young has already scored 87 runs while Tom Latham is batting on 24 runs.
