Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) scored a mammoth 203 runs in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 game against Mumbai Indians (MI), Naman Dhir was promoted to bat at number three in the batting order with Tilak Varma being named as the impact player. Dhir, was brought back by MI during the Auctions using the right-to-match card.

The young batter went berserk against Akash Deep in the fourth of the chase with two sixes and two fours. Akash Deep was smashed for a six over the backward square leg region and this was followed by yet another maximum over the fine leg region. With 12 runs being scored in the first balls, Naman Dhir had brought MI back into the contest. 

In the next two balls, the young batter hit two more fours to spoil Akash Deep’s debut for LSG in the IPL. 21 runs came off the over as MI raced to 46 runs for the loss of two wickets. Earlier in the day, Hardik Pandya won the toss and put LSG into bat as the hosts scored 203 runs on the board. 

Mitchell Marsh scored his third fifty in four innings while Aiden Markram also came up with a half-century. The star with the ball for MI was their skipper Hardik Pandya who claimed his first fifer in the IPL. Pandya ended his spell with figures of five for 34 from his four overs.

Will Jacks was sent into bat at the top of the order with Ryan Rickelton as Rohit Sharma had missed the game due to injury. It was Akash Deep who give the hosts their first wicket when Jacks was caught by Bishnoi for five runs. Ryan Rickelton who had scored an unbeaten fifty in the last game was off the blocks with two boundaries. 

Just as the South African batter was looking settled, he too was caught by Bishnoi to give Shardul Thakur his opening wicket. Rickelton was out for just ten runs from five balls with two hits to the fence. Suryakumar Yadav joined Dhir in the middle as the pair began to forge a key stand in a bid to bring MI back into the game.
