WATCH: Mumbai Indians post a special video featuring veteran Bollywood actor Jackie Shroff as 'spirit coach'

The five-time IPL champions and the joint-most successful team in the history of IPL, Mumbai Indians, are set to be in action in the upcoming IPL 2025, starting on March 22 next week. The team is all set to forget their dismal run in the last edition and make a strong comeback in the tournament’s 18th edition.

Meanwhile, the Mumbai Indians franchise recently posted a heart-whelming video featuring the veteran Bollywood actor Jackie Shroff as their ‘spirit coach’ ahead of the upcoming edition of the tournament. The video also features some of the key players of MI, including skipper Hardik Pandya, former skipper and five-time IPL winning captain Rohit Sharma, star pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah, Suryakumar Yadav, and young batter Tilak Varma. 

“Saans le lamba & shaanti coz 𝙅𝘼𝙂𝙂𝙐 𝘿𝘼𝘿𝘼 - aapla Spirit Coach is here! (Take a deep breath and calm Jaggu Dada, our spirit coach is here)” wrote Mumbai Indians in the caption of the video post they shared on their official X handle (formerly Twitter).

Notably, the Mumbai Indians will start their journey in IPL 2025 with their campaign opener against the arch-rivals and five-time IPL champions, Chennai Super Kings (CSK). The high-octane game will be played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Sunday, March 23, at 7:30 PM (IST).

However, the team will be playing without their regular skipper, Hardik Pandya, in their campaign opener against CSK. Hardik will be fulfilling the one-game ban after getting fined for a slow-over rate in three matches last year during the Indian Premier League 2024. So, the team might be playing under the captaincy of former skipper Rohit Sharma or star batter Suryakumar Yadav, in the role of stand-in skipper.
