India's star pacer, Mohammed Shami, is back on the team after missing out for 14 months. Shami last played for the team in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023, in Ahmedabad. Post that, he suffered a chronic heel issue and went through surgery. Although his recovery took a long time, he managed to make his comeback in the domestic tournaments within 7-8 months. However, he had to rest again because of the problem with his Achilles tendon that happened after playing frequent domestic games.

During the practice session, Shami was seen sporting heavy strapping on his left knee and starting the practice with a warm-up session. He gradually increased the intensity of his bowling practice as he was seen taking his normal run-up and bowling at full strength. However, the star pacer was seen limping while heading towards the dressing room, raising concerns over another injury.

After going through a lot of pain, physically and mentally, Shami is set to make his comeback in the Indian team in the upcoming T20I series against England. The series will start on January 22 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. Shami's fitness will be tested in the series. Since the Champions Trophy 2025 is starting just a month later, management's focus will be on Shami for a while.

On the other hand, ace bowler Jasprit Bumrah will be missing the ODI series against England due to his back injury. The chief selector, Ajit Agarkar, clarified that Bumrah will be present in the Champions Trophy but will miss the ODI series.

Cricket Association of Bengal has not arranged any separate means of conveyance: Snehasish Ganguly

Considering the recent BCCI guidelines for the Indian team, CAB's President Snehasish Ganguly clarified that they have arranged for only one team bus for the entire squad. Like earlier, there will be no separate vehicles arranged for the players as the association will have to follow the policies. The players have reached Kolkata and started practicing for the encounter against England

"In keeping with the BCCI's 10-point guidelines for players, the Cricket Association of Bengal has not arranged any separate means of conveyance [for individual players]," Ganguly was quoted as saying by PTI. "Only a team bus has been arranged for the Indian team. There won't be any personal vehicles for the cricketers," said the CAB President while talking to PTI.
