Mohammed Shami, India's prolific pacer, spoke about his fitness ahead of the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024. Shami spoke to reporters at an event organized by Eugenix Hair Sciences, where he revealed his plans and mentioned that he is 'hundred percent' fit and can play in the BGT series against Australia. While Shami was with NCA in Bengaluru, he bowled several overs to India's assistant coach, Abhishek Nayar.

"I am hundred per cent pain-free. Everyone has been wondering about if I will play the Australia Tests, but there's a lot of time left for it. I only want to ensure that I am fit and strong before the Australia series. I will analyse what kind of attack we need to succeed there. So, I focus on spending more time on the ground and playing a couple of matches," Shami said.

Shami's inclusion in the upcoming series is extremely important for the Indian team since he is a brilliant wicket-taking bowler who will complete Jasprit Bumrah really well. Their partnership was seen in the ODI World Cup 2023 and the same will happen in the BGT series if he decides to play. After the World Cup 2023, he went through surgery and is not fit to be back on the team.

Will Mohammed Shami's inclusion in BGT 2024 be beneficial for India?

Mohammed Shami is a terrific bowler in overseas conditions because he can take wickets. He knows how to read the minds of the batters, and against teams like Australia, he has done unexpectedly well. Hence, his inclusion will be extremely beneficial for India. He will do wonders along with Jasprit Bumrah, who is just brilliant with the ball. These two players have always performed for the team, helping them win.

India lost the 1st match against New Zealand, increasing the team's pressure. Now, they must win four games and draw two to qualify for the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025. It will be interesting to see how the series unfolds for the team.
