A hilarious incident happened during a recent County Championship game in England as a mobile phone unexpectedly tumbled out of a batter’s pocket. The incident occurred as the player was sprinting to complete a quick single, and suddenly, a mobile phone fell from his pocket. Many users reacted to the incident and raised questions about the professionalism.
The player in question was veteran seamer Tom Bailey, who was playing for Lancashire in the game against Gloucestershire. It was a hilarious incident, but it also raised serious questions about how a mobile phone made its way to the player. As per the new rules put into place, a player cannot carry a mobile phone on the ground during the course of the game.
Former England player Ravi Bopara too had had once batted with his mobile in his pocket. The incident had happened in 2016, and the player took to Twitter and wrote, “I can’t believe I just batted with my mobile phone in my left pocket accidentally.”. It isn’t clear if the player in question will be handed some sort of warning or penalty.
Marcus Harris' ton helps Lancashire reach 450
It was former champions Lancashire who batted first and posted 450 runs on the board. The best batter was Australian player Marcus Harris, who scored 167 off 269 balls with 15 fours and two sixes. Matthew Hurst and Josh Bohannon scored fifties for their side while Tom Bailey was not out on 22 off 31 balls.
In reply, Gloucester were placed 264 for the loss of two wickets. Oliver Price and Miles Hammond were close to scoring centuries in what is turning out to be a high-scoring encounter. Speaking about Tom Bailey, the 34-year-old is a right-arm seamer with over 113 games to his credit.
Bailey has also picked 392 wickets in his List A career with 16 fifers and three ten-wicket in a game. The right-arm seamer has been known to be a nippy pacer with the ability to swing the ball at decent speeds.
