Mumbai Indians (MI) ended their losing run in the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Sunday. Hardik Pandya and his side beat Delhi Capitals (DC) by 12 runs to climb to seventh in the points table and achieve their second win of the season. New Zealand skipper Mitchell Santner was the star of the show as he pulled off an incredible fielding effort to run out Mohit Sharma on the final ball of the 19th over.
With 23 runs needed from 12 balls, Jasprit Bumrah was given the penultimate over of the game. Ashutosh Sharma didn’t score a run on the first ball and then hit two successive fours to make it 15 needed off nine balls. On the fourth ball, Sharma was run out thanks to Will Jacks’ bullet-arm throw.
Kuldeep Yadav hit the ball towards the long-on region and decided to set off for the second run. Raj Bawa threw the ball to Ryan Rickelton as the batter was caught short of the crease. Mohit Sharma came out to bat with 13 runs needed from seven balls and Bumrah bowled a yorker that the batter hit towards mid-wicket.
Mitchell Santner came running in and threw the ball towards the stumps with his left hand. The batter was caught short of his crease and Mumbai Indians won the game by 12 runs. Hardik Pandya was over the moon as Santner was swarmed by Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav as the Men in Blue and Gold celebrated a huge win.

Karn Sharma leads Mumbai Indians to crucial win against DC
Chasing 206 to win, DC lost Jake Fraser-McGurk for a golden duck before Abhishek Porel and Karun Nair added 119 runs for the second wicket. Veteran spinner Karn Sharma, who came in as an impact sub, got the wicket of Porel caught by Naman Dhir for 33 runs. The 37-year-old also dismissed Tristan Stubbs and KL Rahul to bring MI back into the game.
Karun Nair was the best batter for Delhi with his 40-ball 89 runs, which had 12 fours and five sixes. Mitchell Santner produced a ripper of a ball to get the wicket of Nair in the 12th over as MI slowly came back into the contest. Vipraj Nigam went after Mitchell Santner and hit the spinner for a six and a four in the 18th over. The Kiwi skipper, though, had the last laugh when he had Nigam stumped for 14 runs.
