Australian cricketer Mitchell Marsh scored his first ever century in the IPL. The 33-year-old got to his century in the fifth ball of the 17th over with a single off Arshad Khan. Mitchell Marsh who has been in great form with the bat this season for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) got to his century in the game against Gujarat Titans (GT). Β

Shubman Gill had won the toss and chose to bowl first at the Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad. LSG batters ruled the roost as the batters dominated the bowlers right from the start. Marsh, who had scored fifty in the last game against Sunrisers Hyderabad went after the bowlers right from the start.Β 

In the 12th over that was bowled by Rashid Khan, the 33-year-old Aussie batter scored 25 runs. Marsh hit the Afghanistan spinner for two sixes and three fours and ended the over with a single. The assault took Marsh to 84 runs from 46 balls, Marsh was batting ion 95 when he hit Arshad for a boundary and followed it up with a single to complete his ton.

Gujarat Titans bowlers endure tough day in the parkΒ 

Having been put into bat, Marsh and Aiden Markram began to the attack the Titans bowlers right from the start. LSG openers had managed to score 53 for no loss after six overs. Markram hit Kagiso Rabada for two successive sixes while Marsh had also smashed boundaries to lay down the marker.Β 

None of the GT bowlers were able to stop the duo as runs came at quick pace. Markram was out after scoring 35 runs when Sai Kishore had the South African batter caught by Shahrukh Khan in the fifth ball of the 10th over. Nicholas Pooran came out to bat and began his innings with a huge six.Β 

The pair of Pooran and Marsh then took LSG past the 200 mark as the GT batters stared at a huge total to chase. Pooran reached his fifth fifty of the season to signal his return to form with the bat much to the delight of the LSG fans. Β
