Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are set to host Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in match number eight of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season. It is a huge game for both sides, who have made a winning start to their campaign. Ahead of the game, the official social media account of CSK put up a short video involving former Australian opener Matthew Hayden.

The hard-hitting left-handed batter was part of CSK for the first three seasons and played a key role in the title win in 2010. Hayden could be seen meeting former skipper MS Dhoni in a warm manner. The Queenslander was also seen having a word with Ravichandran Ashwin, who was a teammate of Hayden’s at the franchise for two years.

MS Dhoni and Matthew Hayden shared a great rapport during their time together at the franchise. The former Aussie opener has on many occasions praised Dhoni for his cool approach to the game. In fact, Hayden’s debut season in 2008 was the last time CSK had lost a home game to RCB in the league.

Dinesh Karthik backs Virat Kohli to do well vs CSK

Ahead of the huge game, former India and RCB wicketkeeper and batter Dinesh Karthik was seen working with Virat Kohli. The duo seemed to be working closely on Kohli’s technique against spin. Chennai is likely to see a pitch that favours the slower bowlers, like seen in the game against the Mumbai Indians last Sunday.

Speaking ahead of the game, Karthik, as quoted by India Today, said, “He's coming off some serious runs in the Champions Trophy. He has batted well recently against spin, especially in white-ball cricket. So, I don't want to go too deep into stats.”

The 39-year-old also said, “Even today, just now as I came out, he wanted to work on one more shot. At this point in time, to work on one more shot tells you the hunger that he has in his mindset. He wants to just improve and keep raising the bar. So, he is a special player. And at this point in time, the way I see it, he is batting as confidently and as well as he has ever done in the IPL."
