The incident in question occurred when Sri Lankan pacer Matheesha Pathirana was bowling in the final few overs. Marco Jansen didn’t even look at the ball as he slammed the ball deep into the stands to play a ‘no-look’ shot for a huge six. Jansen ended his innings on 34 not out from 19 balls with the help of two fours and two sixes.

The South African star also added 65 runs from 38 balls with Shashank Singh to help PBKS reach 219 on the board. This was the highest score at this venue, beating the 205 runs scored by Rajasthan Royals in the last match. Jansen had a forgettable day with the ball, going for 48 runs from his four overs.

‘This is going to be the template’ – Shreyas Iyer after win over CSK

PBKS skipper Shreyas Iyer served out a warning to other sides in the league when he said that his side intended to play in the same aggressive vein. The 30-year-old made these statements speaking to the host broadcasters after beating CSK by 18 runs.

Iyer said, “This is going to be the template, irrespective of any ground we play at. Strong hitters we have and the way Priyansh played was scintillating to watch. Out of the world type of innings. When I had a chat with him in the last game, he was a bit timid in his decision-making when he faced Jofra. Today he backed his instincts; he was free-flowing. that's the mindset I want everyone to have in this team.”

Punjab Kings will be faced with a tough task when they take on Sunrisers Hyderabad away from home. SRH are currently bottom of the table, having lost their last few games. Pat Cummins and his side will be looking to come out with an aggressive frame of mind to put an end to their losing run in the IPL 2025 season.
