WATCH: 'Main bhi thoda maths kar raha tha' - Axar Patel opens up on Virat Kohli's century in game against Pakistan

Axar Patel played a tiny role in Virat Kohli's century against Pakistan in the ongoing Champions Trophy 2025. When he came in to bat, Kohli was very close to his century when the Pakistan bowlers started throwing wides. That was the time when Axar used his math skills and avoided taking a second run to put Kohli back on strike so he could complete his century. While talking to ICC, Axar revealed that he enjoyed watching Kohli bat and score a century against the arch-rivals.  

"At the end, actually main bhi thoda maths kar raha tha unke hundred ke liye (Even I was doing the math for his hundred towards the end). I was hoping that I don't edge the ball or something. So, it was quite fun," said Axar Patel.

Kohli scored his 51st ODI century and the fourth against Pakistan. Also, Kohli scored his first century in the Champions Trophy history. It is a brilliant achievement for the player who has amassed tons of runs in his career. He also scored 14000 runs in international cricket.

Axar Patel praised Virat Kohli for his brilliant fitness levels after watching him field for 50 overs and then score a century in the second innings. Moreover, Kohli's running in between the wickets is just magnificent. The legendary player has set a high benchmark for the budding cricketers. 

"I think it's the first time that I got the chance to witness from the dressing room, a high-pressure game where Virat has scored a century. I had a lot of fun and the way he was running between the wickets after fielding for 50 overs, I think it is great how he has maintained that level of fitness," added Axar Patel.
