New Zealand cricket star Lockie Ferguson bowled a dream spell to get a hattrick during the second T20I against Sri Lanka. Ferguson is now the fifth New Zealand bowler to achieve the feat in T20I cricket. The veteran pacer was part of Royal Challengers Bengaluru before being released ahead of IPL 2025 auctions.
The last ball of the sixth over saw Kusal Perera get a fine edge that was snapped behind by wicketkeeper Mitch Hay. The first ball of the seventh over saw Ferguson bowl a searing yorker that Kamindu Mendis as the batter went for the review. The decision stayed with the bowler as Mendis was out for 1.

Lockie Ferguson sends huge notice to IPL teams
33-year-old Lockie Ferguson has been part of the IPL for many years and has been one of the best bowlers. During the 2022 season, Ferguson bowled the fastest ball of the tournament which was clocked at 157 KPH while playing for Gujarat Titans.
So far Lockie Ferguson has played for four teams since his debut in 2017 which was with Rising Pune Supergiants. The Kiwi pacer then moved to Kolkata Knight Riders where he played for three reasons before moving to Gujarat Titans in 2022. This was the season where he was part of the championship winning team.
Kolkata Knight Riders got the right-arm quick back to the fold in 2023 where he played just 3 games. The move to Royal Challengers Bengaluru saw the Kiwi pacer play 7 matches and pick 9 wickets. So far Lockie Ferguson has played 46 games in IPL and picked 49 wickers with a best of 4/28.
Earlier this year, during the T20 World Cup, Ferguson wrote his name in history books. The right-arm pacer bowled four overs and picked 3 wickets without conceding a run. What made the feat more special was that Feguson bowled four maidens which is the only time any bowler has achieved such a feat in T20I cricket.
