Sri Lankan bowlers came in all guns blazing as they reduced the home team to 44/3 during the first session of play. The best ball of the morning was bowled by pacer Lahiru Kumara who left Aiden Markram stunned with a stunning delivery. The incident in question happened on 2nd ball off the 12th over.

Lahiru Kumara delivered the ball on the perfect length which beat Aiden Markram for pace. The South African star could only stand in disbelief as the ball tailed into him and went on to hit the middle stump. Sri Lankan players crowded Kumar as he got the biggest wicket of the morning session.

South Africa lost three wickets before lunch in Gqeberha

Having lost the last game by a huge margin, Sri Lanka came into the game needing to win. South Africa, on the other hand, are currently 2nd in the World Test Championship (WTC) table having gone past Australia post the win in the first game.

Gerald Coetzee and Wiaan Mulder were ruled out of the game as Ryan Rickelton and Dane Paterson made their way into the team. Sri Lanka went in with the same team that had played the opening game of the tour. Skipper Dhananjaya De Silva and coach Sanath Jayasuriya seemed to keep faith in the players after a better performance in the 2nd innings.

Asitha Fernando struck in the first ball of the second to dismiss Tony De Zorzi for a golden duck. Aiden Markram batted for 35 balls and scored 20 runs before he got the peach of a delivery from Kumara to rattle his stumps. Tristan Stubbs who had scored a century in the last match was out for 4 caught by Kusal Mendis to give Kumara his 2nd wicket.
