Former Sri Lankan star Kumar Sangakkara was in the commentary box during the Hundred 2024 tournament on Monday night. Kieron Pollard played a cameo during the game between Southern Braves and Welsh Fire which was played in Cardiff.

Former West Indian skipper Pollard was batting when he got a short ball from Pakistani pacer Haris Rauf. The Pakistani pacer bowled a short ball to Kieron Pollard who pulled the ball beyond the backward region for a huge six.

The ball went racing to the boundary all the way for a six. That’s when Sangakkara, who was commentating in the stand near the boundary ropes, was nearly hit by the ball. Former English spin bowler Robert Croft was taken aback by the ferocity of the hit as Kumar Sangakkara braved a smile.

Kumar Sangakkara approached for England’s coaching job?

Former Sri Lankan legend Kumara Sangakkara was in the news recently. He was linked with the vacant coaching job for England’s white-ball team after Matthew Mott had left the job. Other names in the fray also included former India coach Rahul Dravid and current Test coach Brendon McCullum.

Speaking about this to one of the British News agencies, Sangakkara said, “Well, I know my name has been mentioned for some reason, but there has not been any approach as such”. The former Sri Lankan star though was happy to be linked with the job as it could be his first-ever foray into the coaching job at the international level.

The former Sri Lanka star has been active with the Rajasthan Royals side and played a huge role in their renaissance. One of the other names being spoken about is former skipper Eoin Morgan, who has come out and expressed his lack of interest in the job.

"I think the England white-ball job is an exciting prospect for anyone, but there are so many good candidates out there. I think Matthew Mott has done a really good job. It is great that Jos Buttler is staying in that leadership role as the side progresses because it is a nice time from what the side is and was and how it wants to progress in the future” further said Kumara Sangakkara.
