South African pace sensation Kagiso Rabada achieved yet another milestone in his already legendary career. The 29-year-old became the third-fastest South African pace bowler to reach 300 Test wickets. The feat was achieved on the opening day of the first Test match against Bangladesh at the Sher -E- Bangla stadium on Monday.

In the fifth ball of the 14th over, Rabada bowled to former Bangladesh skipper Mushfiqur Rahim. The veteran star saw his off and middle stump shattered and lay spread eagle on the floor. Rabada let out a huge roar as he rushed to his teammates to celebrate this humungous moment.

The fastest South African to take 300 Test wickets was Dale Steyn during the 2013 Cape Town Test against New Zealand. Steyn got to the mark in his 61st game while Allan Donald is second having got to the mark in his 63rd game for the Proteas. Kagiso Rabada is currently playing his 65th game for South Africa making him the 3rd fastest.

Najmul Shanto won the toss and chose to bat and went into lunch with the score reading 60/6. Many fans had expected Shakib Al Hasan to play the game as he the former skipper had intended to retire in front of his home fans.

Wiaan Mulder struck thrice to leave the home team reeling at 21/3 inside 6 overs. Shadman Islam was out for a duck caught by Aiden Markram of Mulder. Former skipper Mominul Haque scored 4 runs before he edged behind Kyle Verreynne.

Najmul Shanto himself scored just 7 runs off 7 before he was caught by Keshav Maharaj to give Mulder his 3rd wicket. Rabada then joined the party as he dismissed Rahim (11) and Litton Das (1) to leave Bangladesh at 40/5. Keshav Maharaj struck at the stroke of lunch to get rid of Mehidy Hasan Miraz for 13 runs.

South Africa were dealt an early blow when Temba Bavuma was ruled out of the game and Aiden Markram was named the skipper. The stand-in skipper said at the toss “obviously we would have liked to bat first, that's no secret. The preparation has been good and we have had a practice session for 4-5 days here. The boys are in good head space and it's exciting times for us”

Bangladesh skipper Shanto said “We have the experience and we are looking forward to play here. We know the conditions and hopefully, we will do good. Most of the players are doing preparation since the India series and we are ready”
