Josh Inglis century Photograph: (X)
29-year-old Josh Inglis marked his Test debut in fine style as he scored a century off just 90 balls. It was an emotional moment for the Inglis family as their son had to wait a while to make his Test debut. The right-handed batter was given his debut in place of Sam Konstas, who had made a great impression against India.
The magical moment arrived on the fourth ball of the 132nd over with Nishan Peiris bowling to Inglis. The batter went onto the backfoot and caressed the ball through the covers and completed three runs to reach his century. Once he reached the magical mark, Inglis removed his helmet and savoured the moment.

From just 90 balls, with 10 fours and a six, Inglis is the first Australian to make a century on Test debut since Adam Voges in 2015 #SLvAUS pic.twitter.com/yFCXF74UK9
Cameras panned to Inglis’ parents, who were enjoying the moment as the player’s mother broke into a huge grin. Inglis’ proud father was seen blowing kisses towards his son in what was a great moment for the entire family. The rest of the Australian players and support staff stood up and applauded the effort by the batter, who had made an instant impact.
Veteran Australian batter Usman Khawaja scored 232 runs from 352 balls during the first Test match in Galle. The 38-year-old not only scored his maiden Test double ton but also became the first Australian batter to achieve the feat on Sri Lankan soil. The mammoth innings ended when Prabath Jayasuriya dismissed Khawaja, caught behind by Kusal Mendis.
Josh Inglis and Usman Khawaja had added 146 runs for the fourth wicket in just 172 balls. The stand put the hosts on the backfoot as the Aussies kept on piling the pressure with ease runs. Inglis had earlier reached his fifty off just 51 balls with the help of five hits to the fence.
Left-arm spinner Prabhath Jayasuriya then dismissed Inglis for 102 runs caught by Kamindu Mendis. Earlier in the day, Steve Smith added 37 runs to his overnight score of 104 to be dismissed for 141. Jeffrey Vandersay went up for a huge LBW appeal against the Aussie skipper only for the umpire to turn it down. Dhananjaya De Silva decided to review the call and saw the decision given in his team's favour.
