Match number 42 in the Indian Premier League (IPL) saw Rajasthan Royals (RR) lose to Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on Thursday. RCB posted their first win at the Chinnaswamy Stadium for the season after three successive losses. Jofra Archer was the best bowler for the visiting side as the Englishman bowled with great pace.
During the game, cameras spotted Archer doing his nails while he was on the field. Archer could be seen working on his nails during the early part of RCB’s batting. The video has gone viral after it was posted on social media by an eagle-eyed cricket fan.
The right-arm seamer bowled four overs and gave away just 33 runs and picked the key wicket of Virat Kohli for 70. It was an amazing effort from the 30-year-old on a track which saw RCB post a massive total of 205 runs. For the Royals, the latest loss now means that they have four points from nine games and are eighth in the table. RR could be pushed into the bottom two, as the winners of the game between CSK and SRH on Friday could leapfrog the Royals on points.
Andy Flower heaps praise on RCB duo
RCB coach Andy Flower was in full praise for Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal. The pair put RCB in a strong position with a 95-run stand for the second wicket in just 51 balls. Both batters have been in terrific form this season and had scored fifties in their previous game against Punjab Kings as well.
The Indian Express quoted Andy Flower as saying, “In the first three (home) games, I thought our bowlers and fielding unit did outstanding work to keep us in the game as long as they did because all three totals were a bit below par. So watching our guys adapt to the conditions today was really gratifying.
I was really proud of the way that they batted.”
Andy Flower also added, “Dev was sensational to score 50 off 27 balls like that without ever slogging; I thought that was a genuinely outstanding innings. We say a lot about Virat, but his 70 or 42 balls and that partnership with Dev really gave us a platform on a pitch that wasn’t that easy, I didn’t think.
I thought that was an above-par total, to be honest. And so that class of thatting and thinking that went into it from those guys, I thought was genuinely outstanding.”
