Veteran Indian pace bowler Jaydev Unadkat began his county stint for Sussex against Yorkshire. It didn’t take the 32-year-old to show his class as he got the wicket of former England opener Adam Lyth with a terrific yorker.

The incident occurred in the 3rd ball of the 9th over with Unadkat bowling over the wicket to the Yorkshire opener. Adam Lyth was batting well on 24 when he failed to pick the yorker from the Indian pacer. The ball crashed into the stumps as Jaydev Unadkat let out a huge roar and was flanked by his jubilant teammates.

Jaydev Unadkat has made his way to England after being ignored by the selectors for the Duleep Trophy tournament. The 32-year-old was part of the Indian team not too long ago and had played in the Test series against West Indies last year. Shortly after dismissing Adam Lyth, Unadkat then dismissed Finlay Bean for 3 to get his 2nd wicket.

Yorkshire on course for huge lead against Sussex

Sussex batted first and were bowled out for 189 in their first innings. It is to be noted that Cheteshwar Pujara was also part of the Sussex side before ending his stint with the county side.

Tom Aslop was the best batter for Sussex as he scored 86 runs from 187 balls with 14 fours. Opener Daniel Hughes scored 53 runs off just 87 balls and his knock included 9 hits to the fence. Jordan Thomson and Matthew Revis picked 3 wickets each while Ben Coad picked 2 wickets.

England batter Jonny Bairstow who has lost his place in the Test team was batting on 5 after the visitors lost their third wicket. James Wharton had scored 40 runs before he was dismissed by Fynn Hudson-Prentice.

Paul Farbrace the Sussex coach while speaking about the decision to sign Daniel Hughes for Pujara said, “Taking over from Cheteshwar is not an easy task, but Dan has fitted in brilliantly and we are all delighted he will be back for the whole of next season.”

The Sussex coach also said “Dan has been top class for us on and off the field, "He has brought a wealth of experience to the dressing room and has seriously helped some of our young batters with the development of their games."
