WATCH: Indian cricketers sweat it out in WACA nets, Virat Kohli notable absentee

Indian cricket stars hit the nets during the first practice session in WACA while former India skipper Virat Kohli wasn't spotted on Tuesday.

Indian cricketers Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, and Rishabh Pant were seen sweating it out at WACA nets. One of the players who wasn’t seen was former India skipper Virat Kohli. While Jaiswal and Pant are in form with the bat, KL Rahul hasn’t scored many runs with the bat in recent times. The 32-year-old failed to score runs during the India A vs Australia A game.

The three players were seen playing fast bowlers as they practiced their defense. Virat Kohli was one of the earliest players to reach Australia wasn’t spotted. The 36-year-old just like some of the senior members in the side is looking to get back to form. 

Gautam Gambhir had backed the senior members of the side like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli to come good. Team India are under pressure to win the series and keep their WTC finals hopes alive. 

Indian coach backs batters to come good

Gautam Gambhir was addressing the media ahead of his departure to Australia. The 43-year-old said, “There are incredible people in the dressing room who have done a great job. I am not feeling the heat. It's an honour and privilege to coach the Indian team."

Indian coach also said, “I am not thinking about transition but the five Test matches. Transition or no transition, if that has to happen, will happen but I see some incredibly tough characters in that dressing room who are hungry to do well.”

Nitish Kumar Reddy who has earned his first call up to the Indian Test team has backed India’s under-fire coach. The youngster while speaking to RevSportz said, “To be honest, they are very good and welcoming. Going at a senior team and as a youngster, it can sometimes feel like you don’t know the seniors; how they react, how they behave, and everything.”

“He suggested to me that I can play aggressively. And that’s what I did; it really helped me a lot. A lot of other points as well, which he mentioned to me, and I’m working on that. They have been really helpful for me,” added Nitish Kumar Reddy

The youngster ended by saying, “I am ready to give my 100, 110% for the Indian team. The BCCI has chosen me, and I have to respond accordingly. As an all-rounder, I have both the skillsets, and I want to give my 110%, in whichever way I can help them. If I’m playing, I will be trying to give my maximum effort. It’s a crucial Test series for India. It will be a very, very crucial series for me as well.”
