Pakistanโ€™s star opener Imam-ul-Haq suffered an unfortunate injury during the third ODI against New Zealand on Saturday, April 5. The match is still underway in Bay Oval, Mount Maunganui, where the Men in Green are chasing a target of 265 runs with Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan in the middle.

The incident happened in the third over of the second innings. Imam played a shot towards outside off for a single against the Kiwi pacer William Oโ€™Rourke. The fielder threw the ball at the bowlerโ€™s end, but it got hit on Imamโ€™s face and stuck in his helmet. He immediately removed his helmet, removed the ball and held his jaw in pain. A buggy ambulance arrived on the field to carry Imam off the field as he was retired hurt. Babar came in as the next batter.
