Rajasthan Royals' star batter Riyan Parag is aiming to play for the national side after having a terrific Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season. While conversing with the Bharat Army, Parag expressed his thoughts about representing India in the upcoming years. When asked about his top picks for the semi-finals, he boldly remarked that he will not watch the T20 World Cup but will support India throughout.

"It will be a biased answer (prediction on top four teams) but to be very honest I don't even want to watch the World Cup. I'll just see who is winning it at the end and I'll be happy. When I will play the World Cup, I will think about top four and all of that," said Riyan Parag.

Riyan had a fantastic outing in the recently ended IPL 2024, where he was the highest run-scorer for the Rajasthan Royals (RR) with 531 runs in 15 runs, including four half-centuries. He had a massive role in taking the team to the Qualifier 2. Even though the team lost the game to Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), their tournament was pretty impressive from the start.

'That is not me being arrogant' - Riyan Parag expresses his keen interest in representing India

The last few years have been quite difficult for the star batter Riyan Parag, as he has consistently performed in the domestic leagues but hasn't been considered for the national side yet. However, holding the dream of representing the country someday, Parag expressed his emotions and mentioned that he isn't being 'arrogant' but working hard to make his dreams come true.

"At some point, you'll have to take me, right? So that is my belief, I'm going to play for India. I don't really care when. [Even] when I was not scoring runs - I said this in an [earlier] interview as well that I am going to play for India. That is me believing in myself. That is not me being arrogant," said Parag in a recent interview with PTI.
